Need some help?
How do I log a flight?
Go to Logbook and press New entry.
Enter the date, aircraft (or add a new one inline) and route — airport codes are looked up as you type.
Fill in total time plus the categories that apply: PIC, SIC, dual, solo, night, cross-country, actual and simulated instrument.
Add landings, approaches and holds if you flew them.
Add remarks or custom tracking values, then press Save.
Can I track custom information?
Yep.
Go to Profile then Preferences
Find the Customer tracking section
Fill out the Field name and what kind of tracking it is e.g. how many hours, how many times, etc.
To make it easy, we've added the most popular custom tracking options. Just click Add starter fields then Save profile.
How do I add an aircraft?
To manually add an aircraft:
Open Profile → Aircraft and press Add aircraft.
Enter the registration, make and model, then choose category and class (for example Airplane / ASEL).
Set gear and engine type, and mark simulator or training device if it applies.
Press Save — the aircraft now appears in the entry form's aircraft picker.
Look up a tail number in the FAA registry
Auto-fill make, model, category and class from the FAA registry.
In the Add or Edit aircraft form, type the N-number.
Press the registry lookup button — Compass fills in make, model, category, class, engine and seat data.
Review the values and adjust anything that differs from the actual aircraft, then Save.
How do I connect with my instructor* for endorsements?
Open Profile → Connections.
In Find instructor, search by name, email or certificate number.
Send the connection request — your instructor sees it on their Students page and accepts it there.
Once accepted they appear in your instructor picker on flight entries.
Ask an instructor to sign a flight
Get a digital signature on a dual instruction entry.
Log the flight and be sure to select "dual" in the logbook form then select your connected instructor.
Save the entry, then open it from Logbook.
Press Request signature — the flight moves to your instructor's Pending signoff queue.
When they sign, the signature and their certificate details show in the entry details and in every PDF export.
Request an AC 61-65 endorsement
Pick a standard endorsement from the catalog and send it for signature.
Open a flight entry from Logbook, or start a new entry and select Dual received.
In the endorsement section choose a category from the dropdown and search for the endorsement you need.
Select it, fill in any required fields (aircraft, make and model, limitations, dates).
Send the request — your instructor signs it, and the signed endorsement appears in the entry details and in the endorsements appendix of every PDF logbook style.
Import from another logbook app
ForeFlight, MyFlightBook, LogTen and CrewLounge exports are recognised automatically.
Export a CSV from your current logbook app.
Open Import from the Profile tab bar.
Drop the file in — Compass detects the format and shows a preview of the flights and aircraft it found.
Review the preview, then confirm the import. Aircraft are created for you and derived times (complex, high-performance, TAA) are calculated.
Export a PDF logbook
Print-ready logbook pages in several styles.
Open Export from the menu.
Choose a PDF style and the date range you need.
Preview the pages, then download. Signed entries and endorsements are included in an appendix with the instructor's signature details.
